A wildlife activist and conservationist, Jane worked for California’s Department of Fish and Game and ran a wildlife way station on a 230-acre ranch in Paso Robles/Templeton, caring for rescued wild animals such as wolves, coyotes, lions, and mountain lions.

She also pursued acting and casting work, appearing on game shows like This Is Your Life, It’s Your Bet, and Tattletales, and served as an assistant casting director.

Of Texan roots with American ancestry, Jane was described by her son Josh as a “force of nature,” a “severe woman,” and at times narcissistic — someone who created obstacles and lived a dramatic, Sam Shepard-like existence.
