Early life and education
Rizwan Manji was born on October 17, 1974, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Manji, raised him. He grew up in a Gujarati Indian family whose parents had emigrated to Canada from Tanzania.
His family is part of the Ismaili Muslim community, and religion has remained an important part of his identity. When he was in grade one, his family moved to Calgary, Alberta, where he spent most of his childhood.
His sister, Rishma Manji, attended the University of Alberta. Manji graduated from Crescent Heights High School before enrolling at the University of Alberta.

He gradually moved into recurring television work, including appearances in Privileged, Better Off Ted, and 24. His film credits expanded during the 2000s, including Transformers and Charlie Wilson’s War.
His breakthrough came in 2010, when he joined NBC’s Outsourced as Rajiv Gidwani, the ambitious assistant manager of an Indian call center. He later became a recurring cast member on Schitt’s Creek as real-estate agent Ray Butani, a performance that earned him a Canadian Screen Award nomination.
Rizwan Manji subsequently appeared as Tick Pickwick on The Magicians and played Reverend Jax in NBC’s Perfect Harmony.
His later credits include Mr. Robot, Arrested Development, The Tiger Hunter, Paterson, Wedding Season, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Mustache, Journey to Bethlehem, and Peacemaker, where he portrayed Jamil Hameed. In 2026, he appeared in the romantic comedy Kissing Is the Easy Part as the College Advisor.
