Shah Abbas Ali Khan, known as Sanjay Khan, was born on 3 January 1940 in Bengaluru, India. He was born to Sadiq Ali Khan Tanoli, an Afghan immigrant from Ghazni of the Tanoli tribe, and Fatima Khan (Bibi Fatima Begum) of Persian ancestry.

He has several siblings including brothers Feroz Khan, Akbar Khan, and Sameer Khan.

He studied at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School and St. Germain High School in Bengaluru, later obtaining his Senior Cambridge qualification through Cambridge School in Daryaganj, New Delhi. His ethnicity is of mixed Afghan-Persian (Pathan) descent and his religion is Islam.

Career

Sanjay Khan began his acting career in 1964 with the Rajshri Productions film Dosti, followed by a notable role in Chetan Anand’s war drama Haqeeqat.

He quickly rose as a leading man in the 1960s and 1970s, delivering hits such as Dus Lakh, Ek Phool Do Mali, Intaquam, and Dhund, often sharing screen space with his brother Feroz Khan in films like Mela and Nagin.
