Early life and education
Scott Maslen was born on June 25, 1971, in Woolwich, London, to John Maslen and Janet Thompson.
He was raised in Woolwich and developed an early ambition to join the Royal Marines. He grew up having three siblings, Suzie Maslen, William John Thompson, and Billy Maslen.
After leaving the Marines following an injury, he pursued modelling before studying acting for three years at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating in 1998.
Career
Scott Maslen initially pursued a career in the Royal Marines after leaving secondary school, but a broken foot ended that path.
While holidaying in Miami, he was discovered by photographer Bruce Weber, which led to international modelling opportunities.
He subsequently worked for major fashion names including Armani and Versace.
Scott Maslen later moved into acting after being encouraged by actor Bill Paxton. Following his training at Guildhall, he appeared as Jamie in the television series Lock, Stock… and took guest roles in Peak Practice and Heartbeat.
He gained a significant television role as DS Phil Hunter in ITV’s The Bill, appearing from 2002 to 2007.
In 2007, Scott Maslen joined EastEnders as Jack Branning, a role that became the defining part of his acting career.
