Trieu Tran was born on 20 April 1976 in Vietnam to parents referred to as Mr. and Mrs. Tran. His mother raised him alongside his three siblings.
His family fled Vietnam when he was a child and spent time in a refugee camp in Thailand before relocating to Canada and eventually settling in Boston, Massachusetts.
Tran later studied theatre at American University in Washington, D.C., graduating with a degree in Performing Arts. He is of Vietnamese heritage and practices Buddhism.
