He spent six seasons in Chicago before joining the Los Angeles Raiders, completing an 11-season NFL career. He finished with 333 receptions, 6,635 receiving yards, and 44 touchdowns.
He also represented the United States in international track and field, earning a gold medal in the 4×100-meter relay at the 1983 World Championships and a bronze medal in the 110-meter hurdles. After football, he moved into acting, appearing in The Pretender, Baywatch, The Sum of All Fears, S.W.A.T., Cellular, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, and Family Reunion.
