AJ Mendez was born April 19, 1987, in Union City, New Jersey, to Robert Mendez, an automotive engineer, and Janet Acevedo, who worked as a homemaker and later a home health aide.
The youngest of three children, she grew up alongside her older sister Erica Mendez and brother Robert Mendez.
Her brother’s enthusiasm for professional wrestling helped spark her own fascination with the sport, particularly with WWE star Lita, whom she admired from childhood.
