Early Life and education

Anjali Bhimani was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 30, 1974, and raised in Orange County, California by her parents, Ela and Bharat Bhimani, both doctors. She graduated from Foothill High School in Santa Ana, California (class of 1992) after years of participating in school and community theatre.

She went on to attend Northwestern University, earning a degree in theatre with a certificate in musical theatre, graduating in 1996.

After college, she performed with several regional theatre companies including The Goodman Theatre, the Lookingglass Theatre Company, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and others. Later she moved to New York when she joined the cast of the theatrical production of Metamorphoses, marking her entry into Broadway.
