Esther Povitsky was born on March 2, 1988, in Chicago, Illinois, to parents Mary and Morrie Povitsky.

She was raised in the Chicago suburb of Skokie alongside one older half-sister from her mother’s first marriage.

After graduating from Niles North High School in 2006, she attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for three years before dropping out to pursue a career in stand-up comedy and acting.
