Felicia Pearson was born on May 18, 1980, in Baltimore, Maryland, to parents who were incarcerated drug addicts. Her mother is Loretta Chase, and she was raised in an East Baltimore foster home.

Born a premature crack baby weighing only three pounds, she was not expected to survive and was fed with an eyedropper until she could be fed normally. She rarely met her biological parents and took her foster family’s surname.
