Faegheh Atashin was born on May 5, 1950, in Tehran, Iran.

She was brought up by her parents, Saber Atashin (an entertainer and comedian) and Nasrin Atashin, though her parents separated when she was an infant.

Her father raised her, and she grew up with three half-brothers on her father’s side and a brother and sister on her mother’s side.
