She graduated from Wayo Konodai Girls’ High School in 1990, from the theater department of Toho Gakuen College of Drama and Music in 1992.

Her breakthrough came with the role of Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist (2003–2004), its sequel Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009), along with the related films, establishing her as a leading seiyū known for portraying sharp, determined young male characters.
