Early life and Education
Rose Ayling-Ellis was born on November 17, 1994, in Hythe, Kent, England. She was born profoundly deaf and grew up with an older brother.
Her parents separated when she was an infant. She attended Christ Church Church of England High School in Ashford before studying Fashion Design at the University for the Creative Arts, graduating in 2016.
As a child, she attended a filmmaking weekend organized by the National Deaf Children’s Society, where she met deaf filmmaker Ted Evans, who cast her in her first short film and inspired her acting career. She later trained with Deafinitely Youth Theatre.

Rose Ayling-Ellis made her acting debut in the short film The End (2011). She later appeared in productions including Casualty, Summer of Rockets, and several stage plays before achieving her breakthrough in 2020 as Frankie Lewis, the first regular deaf character in EastEnders.
In 2021, she made television history as the first deaf contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, ultimately winning the competition alongside professional dancer Giovanni Pernice.
