Early life and education
Yûna Taira was born on November 12, 1998, in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. She is the youngest of six siblings, including Keiju Taira, Airi Taira, Keisho Taira, and Keito Taira.
She graduated from Kokugakuin University’s Faculty of Shinto Studies in 2021 and obtained a qualification in Shinto priesthood.
Career
Yûna Taira entered the entertainment industry in 2011 after successfully auditioning for Hirokazu Kore-eda‘s film I Wish. She was in sixth grade when her mother and grandmother submitted her audition application.
She subsequently appeared in television productions including R no Hōsoku and Oha Suta, where she became an Oha Girl.
Yûna Taira expanded her film career through appearances in Paper Moon, Solomon’s Perjury, Scarecrow and Racket, Blue Demon ver.2.0, and Mumon: The Land of Stealth.
She later took prominent roles in ReLIFE, I’m Underage But I’m Not a Child, honey, and 10,000 Miles.
In 2022, she made her stage debut as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker. Her performance in Love Is Light earned her the Best Newcomer Award at the 44th Yokohama Film Festival in 2023. Her recent work includes Omusubi, Nemurubaka, and Since I Took You Away.
