After his debut, Erdem spent much of the 1990s working in advertising and directed more than a hundred television commercials. In 1993, he founded Atlantik Film Production Company alongside Ömer Atay. His second feature, Run for Money (Kaç Para Kaç), represented Turkey in the Academy Awards’ foreign-language film category and further strengthened his position as a filmmaker.
Beyond filmmaking, Erdem has written the majority of his feature-film screenplays, edited several of his own productions, directed theatre, and continued developing cinematic projects. His later work includes Big Big World, You Found Me, What Now?, Neandria, and other film projects, maintaining his involvement in Turkish cinema across several decades.
