Bret Michaels began his musical career in the early 1980s with long-time buddy and percussionist Rikki Rockett. Later, Bobby Dall on bass and C.C. DeVille on guitar joined them to form Poison. Look What the Cat Dragged In, the band’s debut album, was a huge success when it was released in 1986. This album was a financial success, with chart-topping hits such as Talk Dirty to Me and I Want Action.

Poison is known for its successful albums in the 1980s and 1990s, such as Open Up and Say…Ahh! (1988), Flesh & Blood (1990), and Native Tongue (1993) continued to make a mark in the music industry.
