Sheldon Jerome Young was born on May 26, 1991, between Compton and Lynwood in southern Los Angeles. His great-grandparents raised him. He spent most of his days at church, playing the drums for the choir. 

Channel moved away from home to attend Oral Roberts University, a private Christian university in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He began playing the drums at the age of ten and went on to study music technology, composition, and theory at Oklahoma’s Oral Roberts University. Tres returned to Los Angeles after graduating college and began focusing on his music career. 

In 2019, he released his debut EP, “Black Moses,” and has since received recognition for his blend of house music, hip hop, and R&B.
