Early Life & Education

Nhlanhla Nciza and Theo Kgosinkwe first met in high school in the late 1990s. During this period, they discovered their shared love of music and went on a songwriting journey. 

In 1996, the duo formed the Mafikizolo musical group, called after the Zulu word for “friends.” Theo Kgosinkwe was born in Kagiso, Krugersdorp, South Africa, on August 15, 1973. Nhlanhla Nciza was born on March 15, 1978, at the same time.

Building on their success, Mafikizolo released their self-titled album Mafikizolo in 1997, followed by Music Revolution in 1999. Their third album, Gate Crashers, released in 2000, became a massive success and remains their best-selling album.

Theo Kgosinkwe, who is 50 years old, is married to Rose Kgosinkwe. Together, they have two children. On the other hand, Nhlanhla Nciza, who is 46 years old, was previously married to TK Nciza from 2004 until 2019. 

During their marriage, they had a child named Zinathi Nciza. Unfortunately, in 2004, the group’s third member, Tebogo Madingoane, passed away due to a heart attack. Despite this tragedy, the duo continued without him and released their album Khwela in 2005.
