Lubo Kirov was born on November 19, 1972, in Pleven, Bulgaria. He was raised by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kirov, in a musical family where his father played accordion.

Of Bulgarian ethnicity and Eastern Orthodox faith, he studied classical piano and later graduated from the National Music Academy in Sofia with a degree in pop and jazz singing. In the early 1990s he was a founding member of the boy band Te, which achieved massive success before disbanding in 2002.
