She grew up with one brother Usman Santa Rita.
She faced racism in a mostly white private school, which inspired her songwriting from age 17. She studied law at Universidade do Estado da Bahia starting in 2007 but did not pursue the profession.
She later trained in popular singing at Escola Baiana de Canto Popular. Her ethnicity is Afro-Brazilian. Her religion is Christianity.
