Early life

However, following his interest in music, his mother repeatedly encouraged him to sing George Strait songs as she drove him to town for shopping.

When he turned 14, his parents purchased an Alvarez guitar for him, and by the age of 15, he began performing at a nearby club called Skinner’s, where he exchanged guitar skills and took on lead vocals alongside other local country singers.

At the age of 16, Luke was invited by two local songwriters who had achieved some success in providing songs to Nashville artists to join their twice-a-week writing sessions held at a local church.

By this time, Luke Bryan was already leading his band and performing at Skinner’s and various community events.

At the age of 19, he lost his elder brother. He was ready for his move to Nashville when the unexpected happened. He had to put a hold on his music career and continue his education at Georgia Southern University to be closer to his family.

In 2001, when Bryan moved to Nashville, he didn’t waste time landing a songwriter with a local publishing house.
