Early Life and Education

Mark Forster bow at the age of 42, was born on 11 January 1983 in Kaiserslautern and grew up in Winnweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate. His mother is Polish; his father is German. His father left the family, and Mark was raised primarily by his mother, who called him “Marek.” Because of this bilingual upbringing, he speaks both German and some Polish, although he has said his Polish is at a childhood level.

After moving to Berlin, he composed jingles for television (for example for Krömer – Die Internationale Show). He fronted the band Balboa starting in 2006. He also accompanied comedian Kurt Krömer as a pianist and collaborator in Kröm De La Kröm from around 2007 to 2010.

Breakthrough & solo albums:

He signed with the label Four Music and released his debut album Karton in 2012 (preceded by the singles Auf dem Weg and Zu dir (weit weg)). After being featured on Sido’s Einer dieser Steine (2013), his solo single Au revoir (featuring Sido) became a major hit and served as the lead for his album Bauch und Kopf (2014).
