The nickname “Papoose” was given to him by his grandmother due to his resemblance to a Native American child as a baby. Papoose attended Immaculata High School in Canada during his teenage years.

He continued to release numerous mixtapes independently, solidifying his reputation in the underground hip-hop scene. His long-awaited debut album, The Nacirema Dream, was finally released independently on March 26, 2013.
