Early life and Education
Pedro Tovar was born on July 22, 2002, in Los Angeles, California, and was raised in Patterson, California.
He was raised by his parents, Pedro Tovar Sr. and Nelida Osegueraea, alongside his younger brother Brian Tovar and sister Brianna Tovar. His mother, also called Nelly Osegueraea, later became closely involved in managing his music career.
His ethnicity is Mexican-American, and his religion is Christianity. Pedro grew up in a family where regional Mexican music was an important part of everyday life. His parents supported his musical interests and encouraged him and Brian as they began developing their abilities.
Pedro grew up alongside Brian Tovar and Brianna Tovar. Brian eventually became his musical partner as the bassist and backing vocalist of Eslabón Armado, creating a particularly close connection between Pedro’s family life and his professional career.
He is Christian, and Pedro has often connected important moments in his life to his faith. In a 2026 interview, he recalled praying for a major song before eventually writing “Ella Baila Sola.” Pedro developed his musical abilities early on.
He learned to play guitar during elementary school, after hearing Ariel Camacho on the radio. Camacho’s guitar playing immediately caught his attention and inspired him to pick up an instrument. Pedro later began writing songs and studying ranchera, norteño and sierreño music alongside his brother.
For his formal education, Pedro attended Patterson High School. In his early teens, he balanced school, guitar practice, songwriting, and the development of Eslabón Armado. By 2017, he and his bandmates were already recording performances and sharing their music online.
Career
Pedro Tovar began taking music seriously in his early teens. His passion for guitar and regional Mexican music led him to write songs and perform alongside his brother, Brian Tovar.
In 2017, the brothers joined forces alongside Jesse Vargas to establish Eslabón Armado, a group that eventually became one of the most commercially successful acts in modern música mexicana.
The group initially shared performance videos on YouTube and social media, building an audience before DEL Records took notice.
Pedro emerged as the group’s lead vocalist and principal songwriter, while Brian handled bass and backing vocals. Their early music drew heavily from sierreño, norteño and regional Mexican traditions.
Eslabón Armado continued releasing successful albums and singles, while Pedro remained responsible for much of the group’s songwriting.
The group’s catalogue helped establish the modern sad sierreño sound among younger audiences and contributed to the broader growth of contemporary regional Mexican music. Pedro’s songwriting success also led to opportunities outside recording and touring.
In March 2025, he entered a worldwide publishing agreement with Kobalt Music through his publishing company, Armado Publishing, expanding the commercial reach of his songwriting catalogue.
In 2026, Pedro remained active as the creative leader of Eslabón Armado. The group released the album Nocturno in June 2026, and Pedro reunited creatively with Peso Pluma for “Amigos Con Derechos.” He has also discussed plans connected to the group’s Nocturno tour and potential future material.
Pedro has expanded into business. In 2024, he bought a Golden Corral restaurant in Hesperia, California, describing commercial real estate and business investment as part of his strategy to build long-term financial security.
