Christos Katsaitis (born July 1, 1969) professionally known as DJ Christos is a South African record producer and Disc Jockey (Deejay).

He is the owner of the popular record label known as Katsaitis Music and he is among the founders of Kalawa Records; a music label.

He is a veteran in the South African music industry and has been an entertainer since the year 2001. He’s also a house producer and has been given the title Godfather of the House in South Africa.

Early Life

DJ Christos was born Christos Katsaitis on the 1st of July in the year 1969 in South Africa.

He started practicing with turntables from the age of 13. His love for deejaying came from his father’s love for jazz music.

He was raised in Johannesburg and his interest in music drove him to work for a record store in Pretoria at the young age of 11. He learned part of the art of deejaying and was exposed to other music genres asides from jazz.

He started keeping his own record collection and started deejaying in high school as a result. As a child, he witnessed Apartheid in South Africa and could not understand why blacks were treated in a poor manner. He refused to be influenced by such and when he started showcasing his talents he attracted the black folks.

Education

DJ Christos completed his primary and secondary school education in Pretoria, South Africa.

Career

DJ Christos started out by working in a recording studio in Pretoria at the young age of 11. He finally got a job at one of the biggest nightclubs in Pretoria, The Jacqueline Night Club as a resident Deejay. His major challenge was how to keep people dancing for eight full hours and had to learn other styles and created different mixes to ensure the club environment did not get boring.

After successfully working at Jacqueline’s, he went on to play at Cubs like Fourth World and Caesars Palace. He was scheduled to play on Thursday and Friday nights at Caesars Palace and attracted larger crowds than usual.

He started Katsaikis Music label. He co-founded Kalawa Music Label. His agency is responsible for record-breaking songs. He has collaborated with several top South African musicians.

Personal Life

DJ Christos is currently happily married to Tobego and they both have three children Taki, Michael, and CJ.

They reside in Johannesburg and along with his wife, he runs a family restaurant business called Shaguma Café
In 2009, he was robbed of his possessions; his laptop and phone, unfortunately, most of his unreleased works and beats were saved on the laptop and were never recovered.

The thieves broke into his hotel room when he was presenting at Channel O’s New Year Eve at Esibayeni Lodge in Swaziland.
