Sng Ee Tze was born on July 23, 1978 in Singapore into a middle-class family.
Her father, Sng Yeow Hong, is a respected electrical engineering professor at the National University of Singapore, while her mother, Sng Ee Kwai, worked as a teacher.
As the eldest of three daughters, she grew up alongside her younger siblings named Sng Yee Wen, and Sng Yee Kia.
