He attended Westlake High School in Agoura Hills, California, where he excelled as a football player, setting school records in rushing yards and touchdowns. He later enrolled at the University of California, Davis, on a full athletic scholarship, majoring in sociology and playing for the Aggies football team from 2011 until a career-ending injury.
