Early Life and Education

Matthew Ryan Meese was born on October 10, 1983, in New Jersey to Curtis and Joni Meese, and was raised in Phoenix, Arizona as the second of four children.

He has a brother named Brad and two sisters, Lindsey Douglas and Lauren Meese.

After completing high school, Meese served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chicago, Illinois.

Upon returning, he attended Brigham Young University (BYU), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

Matt Meese began his comedy career as a member of BYU’s on-campus sketch comedy group Divine Comedy, where he first conceived the idea for what would become Studio C alongside other original members.

He personally pitched the concept to content director Jared Shores, his best friend, leading BYUtv to greenlight the show.

Meese is acknowledged as one of the creators of Studio C and served as its head writer throughout its early seasons.

His early work with the show gained recognition through YouTube, where Studio C built a massive following.

Meese’s key accomplishments include creating the character Scott Sterling, an unlucky soccer and volleyball player who continually receives blows to the head while helping his team win.
