Early Life and Education
Sue Perkins was born on September 22, 1969, in East Dulwich, London. She is the daughter of Ann Perkins, a secretary, and Bert Perkins, who worked at a local car dealership.
She has two younger siblings, Michelle Perkins and David Perkins. She grew up in Croydon and attended Croham Hurst School, a private girls’ school in South Croydon.
She later studied English at New Hall (now Murray Edwards College), University of Cambridge, graduating in 1991, and served as president of the Cambridge Footlights.
She is of British ethnicity and was raised Roman Catholic.
Career
Sue Perkins began her comedy career after meeting Mel Giedroyc at Cambridge. The pair performed as Mel and Sue, gaining attention at the Edinburgh Festival and later hosting Channel 4’s Light Lunch and Late Lunch.
They became household names as co-hosts of The Great British Bake Off from its launch in 2010 until 2016, when the show moved to Channel 4.
