Early Life and Education
Nghtmre was born on 11 October 1990 in Stamford, Connecticut, to parents Tom Marenyi and Ruth Marenyi. He was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He has a sister named Sami and one brother.
He attended North Raleigh Christian Academy, where he played on the tennis team, and later earned a degree in finance from Elon University.
After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles and enrolled at Icon Collective Music Production School. Of Hungarian and American descent, he is Christian.
Career
Nghtmre began producing electronic music while studying finance, creating trap and house remixes of tracks by artists including Tiësto, Rae Sremmurd, and Skrillex.
His breakthrough arrived in 2015 when Skrillex premiered his original track “Street” during a headlining set at Ultra Music Festival.
The song was soon released on Diplo’s Mad Decent label, launching his professional career. He made his festival debut at EDC Las Vegas that same year.
He developed a close collaborative relationship with the duo SLANDER after meeting them at Icon Collective, resulting in joint projects such as the Nuclear Bonds EP and frequent B2B performances.
Together they co-founded the Gud Vibrations label and party brand, which expanded into a global platform featuring tours, radio shows, and artist signings.
Nghtmre has released multiple EPs, including his self-titled project and Magic Hour, and released his debut full-length album, DRMVRSE, in 2022.
