Early life and education
Ido Drent was born on January 27, 1987, in Pretoria, South Africa.
Dirk Drent and Carine Drent raised him, and he spent his childhood in Potchefstroom before his family moved to New Zealand in January 1996. He is South African and has two siblings, Rini Corbett and Ilda Van den Engel.
He follows Christianity. After completing high school in Hamilton, Drent studied business at university before working in property development. He later completed a Meisner acting course, which helped prepare him for professional acting.

Ido Drent began his professional career in entertainment as a model, signing with 11 Modeling Agency and appearing regularly on the catwalk. He subsequently developed an interest in acting and enrolled in a Meisner course.
