Kim Ye-joon was born on October 10, 1992, in Seoul, South Korea. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Ye-joon.
He spent his early childhood in an orphanage after being left at a childcare facility at the age of five.
He grew up without knowing his biological parents and experienced bullying because of his circumstances.

Kim Ye-joon made his professional debut on February 28, 2012, defeating Pil Joon Kim by a four-round split decision.
His career developed across the featherweight and super-bantamweight divisions, earning him the nickname “Pacquiweather” because of his admiration for Manny Pacquiao and comparisons between Pacquiao’s attacking style and Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s defensive approach.
He captured the WBC Youth title in 2014 and the IBF Asia championship in 2015, later adding further Asian-level success.
In 2019, he became a WBA Asia champion, while in 2024 he won the WBO Asian super-bantamweight title after stopping Rakesh Lohchab in the fifth round. His professional record later stood at 21 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws before his world-title opportunity.
Kim Ye-joon received the biggest opportunity of his career in January 2025 when he replaced injured Australian challenger Sam Goodman on short notice and faced Naoya Inoue in Tokyo for the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO super-bantamweight championship. Inoue stopped him in the fourth round, handing Kim his first professional knockout defeat.
Kim Ye-joon returned to competition later in 2025 and defeated Thailand’s Yuttapong Tongdee by fourth-round knockout in Lahore, Pakistan, capturing the inaugural WBA Asia Gold super-bantamweight title. After that victory, his record stood at 22 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws, including 14 knockout victories.
