Early Life and Education

Andrew Form was born on February 3, 1969, in Merrick, Long Island, New York, to Fred and Joann Form. Raised in a middle-class Jewish family on Long Island, he attended Herricks High School and later earned a degree in communications from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1991.

While at USC he interned at various production companies, which led directly to his first job as Jerry Bruckheimer’s assistant after graduation. He is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent and was raised in the Reform Jewish tradition.

Andrew Form began his career in the early 1990s as an assistant to blockbuster producer Jerry Bruckheimer, working on films such as The Rock, Armageddon, and Pearl Harbor. In 2001 he partnered with high-school friend Michael Bay and Brad Fuller to launch Platinum Dunes under Paramount Pictures, specializing in horror remakes.

Their first release, the 2003 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, grossed over $107 million worldwide on a $9 million budget and established the company as a horror powerhouse. They followed with hits including The Amityville Horror (2005), Friday the 13th (2009), and A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010).
