Career

Collin Clarke’s bodybuilding journey began while he worked the front desk at Bob’s Gym North in Evansville. In early 2015, he weighed more than 200 pounds and had about 37 percent body fat.

His interest in bodybuilding developed after he watched personal trainer and bodybuilder Glenn Ubelhor practicing posing routines at the gym.

Clarke began copying the movements he had observed, and Ubelhor eventually noticed his interest and agreed to train him. Under Ubelhor’s guidance, Clarke adopted a demanding exercise program that included weight training and cardiovascular workouts.

He also changed his eating habits, replacing many of his previous foods with protein-rich meals such as egg whites, chicken, and oatmeal.

Within about a year, Clarke lost about 60 pounds and reduced his body-fat percentage to just above 7%.

His transformation eventually led him to competitive bodybuilding. On November 14, 2015, he competed in the novice lightweight division at the NPC Kentucky Muscle Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

Clarke performed a bodybuilding routine lasting about 60 seconds and finished fifth. His appearance attracted considerable attention because he competed alongside other bodybuilders without special modifications to the competition rules.

His story subsequently received international media coverage, and four-time Mr. Olympia champion Jay Cutler sent him a message of encouragement and athletic equipment.

After his bodybuilding breakthrough, Clarke expanded into fitness advocacy and motivational speaking. He founded Collination, an organization that creates exercise opportunities for people with physical and cognitive challenges.

He also worked with the University of Evansville through the AceBuddies program, which provides health, fitness, and wellness activities for young people with special needs.
