Meet Shahid Afridi’s Kids: Ansha, Aqsa, Arwa, Asmara & Ajwa Afridi

Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi, widely known as Shahid Afridi or by his beloved nickname “Boom Boom,” is one of the most decorated and charismatic cricketers Pakistan has ever produced.

Born on 1 March 1977 in the Khyber Agency, Pakistan, he belongs to the Afridi tribe of Pashtuns. His full official name is Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi, and he is now 49 years old. He stands at 180 cm (5 feet 11 inches) tall.

Afridi’s father is Sahabzada Fazal ur Rahman Afridi, while his mother’s name has not been publicly confirmed. He is of Pashtun ethnicity and practices Islam.

He has five brothers: Ashfaq Afridi, Iqbal Afridi, Mushtaq Afridi, Tariq Afridi, and Shoaib Afridi, as well as four sisters. He also lost one of his sisters in October 2023. Afridi completed his secondary education at Government Islamia College, Karachi, Sindh.

Afridi made his One Day International debut in October 1996 and quickly became a global name after scoring the fastest century in ODI cricket at the time, reaching 100 in just 37 balls against Sri Lanka in his second ODI.

He made his Test cricket debut in 1998 against Australia. A right-handed batsman and right-arm leg-spin bowler, he went on to captain Pakistan and amassed over 11,000 international runs alongside more than 500 wickets across all formats before announcing his retirement from international cricket in 2017.

Afridi married his maternal cousin, Nadia Afridi, in 2000, and the couple has five daughters together. There is no public record of any prior marriages or publicly confirmed dating history before his union with Nadia.

Shahid Afridi has five daughters: Aqsa, Ansha, Ajwa, Asmara, and Arwa. He has frequently expressed pride in being a father of daughters, famously saying he considers himself fortunate for it. By 2024, he had also become a grandfather twice over.

Aqsa Afridi

Aqsa Afridi is the firstborn daughter of Shahid and Nadia Afridi, making her the eldest of five sisters. She has maintained a relatively private life compared to the public attention her family commands, but has occasionally appeared at family events and celebrations.

Aqsa married Naseer Nasir in December 2022 in an intimate nikah ceremony, with the rukhsati taking place the following year.

When Aqsa was preparing for her wedding, her father expressed his emotions publicly in deeply affectionate terms.

Afridi wrote for his daughter: “Meri pyari beti, it seems like yesterday when I cradled you in my arms, and on that day I promised myself I would never leave your side. Although you’re about to begin a new chapter in your life, you’ll always have my heart because I’m the man who loved you first.”

Aqsa and her husband, Naseer Nasir, welcomed their daughter Ayra Nasir in December 2024, making Shahid Afridi a grandfather for the second time that year. On the occasion, Afridi publicly shared his joy, writing: “Daughters are the most precious reflection of His mercy and the most precious blessing.”

Ansha Afridi

Ansha Afridi is the second daughter of Shahid and Nadia Afridi and is arguably the most publicly recognized of the five sisters, owing to her marriage to one of Pakistan’s most prominent fast bowlers. Ansha Afridi was born on 6 December 2002 in Karachi. She is reported to measure approximately 5 feet 6 inches in height.

On 3 February 2023, Ansha married Pakistan cricket fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi in a private nikah ceremony. The union brought together two of Pakistani cricket’s most celebrated families and attracted enormous attention from fans and the media alike.

On 24 August 2024, Ansha and Shaheen Shah Afridi welcomed their first child, a son named Aliyaar Afridi. The birth was widely celebrated, with Shaheen marking the occasion with a cradling celebration gesture on the field during a Test match against Bangladesh.

Shahid Afridi called himself the youngest grandfather in the world of cricket at that point, having welcomed his first grandchild at the age of 47.

Ajwa Afridi

Ajwa Afridi is the third daughter of Shahid and Nadia Afridi. She has grown up largely away from the media spotlight, with her father keeping the younger children’s lives more guarded compared to the elder daughters. The third daughter’s name is Ajwa.

When Shahid Afridi brought home his first grandson, Aliyaar, in August 2024, little Ajwa’s reaction was among the most heartwarming moments captured, as she could not contain her happiness and excitement at meeting her nephew.

The video, which Afridi shared on his Instagram, was widely circulated and drew an outpouring of affection from fans across Pakistan and beyond.

Asmara Afridi

Asmara Afridi is the fourth daughter of Shahid and Nadia Afridi. Like her younger sister Arwa, Asmara has featured in occasional glimpses shared by her father on social media, giving fans brief but endearing looks at her personality and her close bond with the family patriarch.

Asmara has accompanied her father on family outings and religious occasions, and Shahid Afridi has referenced her and her sisters collectively when speaking about how fortunate he feels to be their father.

The broader family circle, including her married elder sisters and their growing families, remains tightly knit, with all five daughters known to be close to one another.

Arwa Afridi

Arwa Afridi is the youngest of Shahid Afridi’s five daughters and has captured particular affection from her father’s fanbase through the rare but charming glimpses he shares of her. Arwa Afridi was born on 14 February 2020 in Peshawar, Pakistan.

Shahid Afridi embarked on the holy journey of Umrah with Arwa, describing her as the “light of his life” and writing: “On my way to Umrah with the light of my life, my little one. Prayers for parents with daughters, as they’re blessings of Allah; fulfilling all their wishes and raising them well is one of the most noble acts of service in our religion.”

When Shahid Afridi introduced his newborn grandson Aliyaar to the family, Arwa was visibly ecstatic, asking her father repeatedly to show her the baby, a moment that melted hearts across social media. At 6 years old, she remains the baby of the Afridi household, doted on by her parents and older sisters alike.
