Early Life and Education

Nizamuddin Auliya was born in 1238 AD in Badayun, a town in the Delhi Sultanate, into a Sayyid family claiming descent from the Prophet Muhammad.

His father, Syed Abdullah bin Ahmad al Hussaini Badayuni, passed away when Nizamuddin was five years old. Following his father’s death, his mother, Bibi Zulekha, moved the family to Delhi. In Delhi, Nizamuddin pursued traditional Islamic education, studying the Qur’an, Hadith, and Fiqh.

At the age of twenty, he became a disciple of the renowned Sufi saint Fariduddin Ganjshakar (also known as Baba Farid) in Ajodhan (present-day Pakpattan, Pakistan).
