Clips of the brief appearance were subsequently reposted across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other social platforms.
Online, people then identified Maverick as the 67 Kid, a nickname that became attached to his public identity. His blond hair, distinctive fluffy hairstyle, expressive delivery, and basketball setting became recurring visual elements in reposts and edits.
The wider 6-7 meme did not originate from Maverick. The phrase came from Skrilla’s “Doot Doot (6 7)” and had already circulated in basketball-related edits before his viral appearance. Taylen Kinney also helped spread the phrase before Maverick’s clip circulated widely.
