He rose to prominence on YouTube in 2011 for his commentary videos on various video games and YouTube channels. He later began streaming on Twitch, and in 2016, he announced that he would be taking an indefinite hiatus from YouTube. 

In 2017, he returned to YouTube but had since retired from streaming. LeafyIsHere has been criticized for his commentary style, which some have accused of being needlessly harsh and mean-spirited. He has also been the subject of several controversies.

Calvin Lee Vail, popularly known as LeafyIsHere, was born on August 18, 1995, in Utah, United States. Nothing much is known about his childhood days and family. His father is Marvin Vail, a businessman, while his mother, Regina Lee, is a homemaker.

YouTuber iDubbbz mentioned LeafyIsHere and some of his videos in a 2016 episode of Content Cop, claiming they were cyberbullying.

YouTube removed one of his videos in which he referred to transgender vlogger Milo Stewart as “it” and a “creature” later that year. Later on,  LeafyIsHere left his YouTube channel dormant on December 2017.

In April 2020, LeafyIsHere returned to YouTube with a video ridiculing iDubbbz. He continued his regular video postings afterward. He made nasty comments about Pokimane‘s private life on Twitch in July.

His YouTube was deleted on August 21, 2020. The Verge says LeafyIsHere‘s channel has broken the rules three times in the past three months, including inciting cyberbullying and disrupting other streams. A YouTube spokesman said the channel violated the platform’s harassment policies. LeafyIsHere increased his frequency of Twitch broadcasts after being banned. He’s also uploaded videos to StoryFire, an alternative platform. Furthermore, he fought with a YouTuber named Ethan Klein.

On September 11, 2020, LeafyIsHere‘s account on Twitch’s video-streaming service was suspended. He tweeted earlier that day that Twitch had suspended his account for “hateful behavior and threats of violence against a person or group of individuals.” Twitch did not comment on the ban or specify whether or not it was permanent.
