Liesl Laurie was born on the 24th of December 1990 in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was raised by her mother and grandmother.

Her mother, Karen Laurie used to work in a high school as a teacher, where she earned a meager salary.

On the other hand, her grandmother was also a teacher; her grandmother is also a founding member of the POCCO group. Liesl Laurie was raised up alongside her sister, simply identified as Michaela Laurie.

Education

Liesl Laurie received her primary and high education in a yet-to-be-identified school in her hometown of Johannesburg, but she holds a bachelor’s degree and honor in commerce from the University of Johannesburg.

Liesl Laurie used to be in a romantic relationship with a male rapper simply identified as Tebogo Thekisho a.k.a ProVerb; they only dated for three years before they went their separate ways due to reasons best known to them.

Liesl Laurie eventually found the right one for her some months after breaking up with ProVerb. She met Musa Mthombeni at an event; they eventually became friends. Knowing that there was some chemistry between them, they decided to take their friendship to the next level.

The lovebird eventually married a year after their courtship; Musa Mthombeni and Liesl Laurie spent their honeymoon in the mosaic lagoon lodge on the cape whale coast. Rumors once had it that she was working out with Maps Maponyane.

In March 2015, the damsel won the Miss South Africa crown. She became the successor of the famous Zipozakhe Zokufa, beating all the 11 contestants that made it to the finale. The event was so massive that the titleholder of miss world in 2015 (Rolene Strauss) also attended.

In the same year, she also contested as miss world in Sanya, China, made it to the top 10 finales, but unfortunately, she fell out of the competition; this achievement made her the continental queen of Africa.
