Early life and education

The Great Khali came to this world on August 27, 1972, in Dhiranagar, Himachal Pradesh, India. Being the youngest of his siblings, he grew up in a humble family where his father made a living as a farmer and his mother took care of their household duties. They are Tandi Devi and Jwala Ram. He grew up with six siblings: Inder SinghMangat Singh, Mohinder SinghBalwinder SinghJoginder Singh, and Jaswant Singh.

Khali’s childhood was unremarkable until 17. He was afflicted by a growth disorder known as acromegaly. This condition profoundly impacted his physical development, causing him to experience rapid and excessive growth. By the time Khali reached 18, he had already surpassed an astonishing height of 7 feet.  

Due to financial constraints, Dalip Singh Rana, popularly known as The Great Khali, had to drop out of school at seven. His family could not afford the meager Rs 2.50 school fees, forcing him to leave after completing Class II. Born into a humble family in a village in Himachal Pradesh, India, his father worked as a farmer while his mother took care of household duties.  

Despite not receiving a formal education, Khali displayed remarkable intelligence and athleticism during childhood. 

Career

Khali embarked on his journey in the wrestling world in 2000, dedicating himself to honing his skills in the United States and Japan. The following year marked a significant milestone as he officially stepped into professional wrestling, showcasing his talents for renowned promotions such as All Pro Wrestling (APW) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

 Seeking to broaden his horizons, Khali ventured further east in 2002 to join New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he achieved great success by capturing the prestigious IWGP Tag Team Championship alongside his partner, Giant Bernard.  

Following his signing with WWE in 2006, Khali debuted on SmackDown! on April 21. In an impressive victory, he defeated The Undertaker by countout. This win kicked off a remarkable undefeated streak for Khali, as he defeated esteemed wrestlers such as KaneBig Show, and John Cena.

 One year later, in 2007, Khali secured the World Heavyweight Championship in a thrilling 20-man battle royal. He held onto the title for an impressive 113 days before succumbing to Batista.

The individual known as The Great Khali, whose actual name is Dalip Singh Rana, is in a marital union with Harminder Kaur. Together, they are blessed with a daughter named Avleen Rana, who entered this world in 2014.  

In 2002, Khali and Kaur entered a sacred union through a traditional Sikh ceremony, solidifying their commitment to one another. Their paths crossed through the involvement of their families, and from that moment on, they have remained inseparable.
