Ansu Fati, a professional football player, was born on October 31, 2002, in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau. He had the privilege of being raised by his parents, Bori Fati and Lurdes Fati. As a dedicated young athlete, Ansu Fati enrolled at La Masia, the esteemed FC Barcelona youth academy, to pursue his football dreams. Not only did he receive training and guidance in the sport he loved dearly, but he also acquired formal education within its premises.

Career

At the age of six, Ansu Fati and his family moved to Spain. He then joined the Barcelona youth academy in 2012 and quickly progressed. Eventually, on July 24, 2019, he signed his first professional contract with Barcelona, which would last until 2022. 

On August 25, he debuted in La Liga as a substitute in a triumphant game against Real Betis. Only slightly older than Vicenç Martínez in 1941, Fati made his Barcelona debut at 16 years and 298 days, making him the second-youngest player ever to make a professional debut.

On September 1, 2019, Ansu Fati achieved a significant milestone by scoring his first La Liga goal in Barcelona’s 3-0 victory against Osasuna. At just 16 years and 304 days old, he was the competition’s youngest player to score a goal for Barcelona. 

Continuing his impressive debut season, Fati made his Champions League debut on September 17, 2019, as a substitute in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund, becoming the youngest player to ever play in the Champions League for the club at the age of 16 years and 321 days.

Ansu Fati had an impressive 2019-20 season for Barcelona, totaling 13 goals and 2 assists in 36 matches. This outstanding performance earned him the La Liga Breakthrough Player of the Season title. 

Moving on to the next season, Fati continued his strong start by scoring four goals in his initial four appearances. Unfortunately, his progress was hindered by a meniscus injury in November 2020, ultimately forcing him to sit out for the remainder of the season.

Ansu Fati experienced a comeback in September 2021, yet he faced difficulties finding his rhythm during the initial part of the season. His performance for Barcelona included three goals in 19 matches before being loaned to Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023. 

Since joining Brighton & Hove Albion, Ansu Fati has made three appearances and scored one goal. It is worth mentioning that he is presently on loan from Barcelona until the season’s conclusion.

On August 20, 2020, Fati first appeared for the Spain national team in a victorious match against Germany, where he entered the game as a substitute. At 17 years and 311 days old, Fati was the youngest player ever to represent Spain.
