Franck Yannick Kessié (born December 19, 1996) is a talented football player from Ivory Coast. He plays central or defensive midfielder for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli and the Ivory Coast national team. He formerly played for Serie A club AC Milan before joining Spanish football powerhouse FC Barcelona. 

In 2010, he started playing football with the Stella club’s teen division. He was elevated to the first team in 2014. 

Franck Kessie signed a three-year contract with Serie A club Atalanta on January 29, 2015, after which he was moved to the team’s Primavera Crew and made seven appearances for them.

Early Life 

Franck Kessie was born on December 19, 1996, in the South Central Ivory Coast hamlet of Ouragahio. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kessie, gave birth to him. 

The player is a black national of the Ivory Coast. In truth, Didier Drogba‘s fabled native nation of West Africa is where His family has deep-seated origins.

Career

Franck Kessie started playing for Stella Club d’Adjamé in 2010, joining their young division. On September 26, he made his professional debut, replacing Antonino Ragusa in a 0-0 away tie against Perugia. 

On October 31, 2015, Franck Kessie scored his first goal as a professional, scoring the winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Virtus Lanciano at home. After that, he was always a starter, playing in 37 games and scoring four goals as his team narrowly missed out on promotion to the playoffs.

Gian Piero Gasperini gave Franck Kessie a promotion to the first team once he returned from his loan. He made his debut for La Dea on August 13, 2016, starting and scoring the final goal in a 3-0 Coppa Italia home victory over Cremonese after making appearances with the main squad during the preseason. He extended his contract till 2021 six days later. 

On August 21, 2016, he made his professional football debut in Italy, starting and scoring twice in his team’s 4-3 home loss to Lazio. Seven days later, in a 2-1 away loss to Sampdoria, he added another goal. 

Later, Franck Kessie established himself as a regular starter for Gian Piero Gasperini, scoring the game-winning goals against Roma (2-1 home win) and Torino (2-1 home win). He initially decided on the number 19, but the club’s management soon convinced him to leave it for Leonardo Bonucci, who moved to Milan a few weeks later. As a result, he changed it to 79. 

When Leonardo Bonucci left Milan in the next summer transfer window, he was given his original shirt number back but declined, saying he didn’t want to make the team’s supporters buy more customized shirts because of yet another number change. On January 21, 2018, Milan defeated Cagliari thanks to two goals from Franck Kessie, one of which was a penalty kick. On August 31, 2018, he scored the first goal in a 2-1 victory over Roma. He received a red card against Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana championship game on January 16, 2019, which Juventus won 1-0. 

He scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Lazio on April 13. He scored twice against SPAL on May 26 to help his team win 3-2. He scored the game-winning goal against Genoa on the road on October 5, 2019. He scored the equalizer on July 7, 2020, to aid Milan’s comeback in a 4-2 victory over Juventus.

Franck Kessie scored a penalty on July 12 against Napoli to make the final score 2-2. He scored the equalizer in a 3-1 victory over Parma on July 15 with a strong strike from 25 meters. 

In a 2-0 victory over Crotone on September 27, Franck Kessie scored his first goal of the year from the penalty spot. He scored in a 2-1 victory over Udinese on November 1 at Stadio Friuli. He scored one penalty and missed another as his team won 2-0 on November 29 against Fiorentina. 

He converted a penalty kick in the last seconds of the first half against Sampdoria on December 6 at Luigi Ferraris to give his team the lead and secure a tense 2-1 victory. He converted a penalty kick in a 2-1 victory for his team against Roma on February 28, 2021. He secured Milan’s second-place finish in the 2020-21 Serie A and, after an eight-year absence, qualified for the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League on May 23 with two penalties in a 2-0 away win over his former team, Atalanta. 

Franck Kessie earned a penalty kick against Lazio on September 12, 2021, but could not convert it, resulting in a 2-0 Milan victory. When Milan was leading 1-0 against Atletico on September 28 in a UEFA Champions League encounter, he was dismissed in the 29th minute, and Milan went on to lose 1-2. 

He scored the opening goal in a 2-0 victory over Salernitana on December 4th. The last AC Milan midfielder to score that many goals in a single calendar year were Kaká in 2008. He reached 14 Serie A goals during the 2021 calendar year on December 22 against Empoli. 



It was Franck Kessie‘s final game and goal with Milan when he scored the third goal in a 3-0 victory over Sassuolo on May 22, 2022. After the goal, he went to the Milan fans at the Mapei Stadium and gave them his signature salute; he later announced his departure and thanked the supporters. Barcelona announced on July 4, 2022, that it had concluded a deal with Franck Kessie.

Franck Kessie has experience in dating and romantic relationships. He had had a lot of adventures with gorgeous women before getting married. 

His wife’s name is Joelle Kessie. We deduced that she was born and raised in Yopougon.
