Early Life and Education

Ali Amin Gandapur, born in 1978 in Kulachi (then part of Dera Ismail Khan) though his exact date of birth is unknown, he is the son of Major (Retd) Aminullah Gandapur and Mrs. Gandapur. He has two brothers, Umar Amin Gandapur and Sardar Faisal Amin Khan Gandapur, who is also a politician.

Career

Ali Amin Khan Gandapur began his political career in 2013 when he was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate from PK-64 (Dera Ismail Khan-I). During this term, he served as the Provincial Minister for Revenue and Estate from 2013 to 2018 under Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.

He was also the PTI’s South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region President following intra-party elections in 2013.

In the 2018 general elections, Gandapur won two seats: PK-97 (Dera Ismail Khan City 1) in the KP Provincial Assembly and NA-38 (Dera Ismail Khan-I) in the National Assembly of Pakistan. He chose to serve in the National Assembly and was appointed Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan from October 2018 until April 2022 in Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet.
