Anne Mumbi Waiguru was born on April 16, 1971, in Pumwani, Nairobi, Kenya. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mumbi, raised her alongside three siblings.

She began her education at Nairobi River Primary School and proceeded to Precious Blood Girls’ Secondary School, Riruta, for her O-Level studies. Waiguru completed her A-Levels at Moi Forces Academy in Nairobi, focusing on mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
