Raised by his parents, whose names are not publicly known, alongside his elder brother Hassan, also a professional boxer, Azim was introduced to boxing by his father, a boxing trainer, at age four.

Diagnosed with ADHD, he attended Eton Porny School, Western House Academy, and Westgate School briefly before enrolling at Al-Madani Independent Grammar School for additional support.

His education was later supplemented by homeschooling to focus on boxing. He is of Rajput descent from the Janjua clan, and practices Islam.

Career

Adam Azim began his boxing career as an amateur, achieving remarkable success by winning ten national titles, a European Championship, and a European silver medal, earning the world’s No. 1 youth amateur welterweight ranking.

He turned professional in December 2020, debuting against Ed Harrison with a unanimous decision victory under trainer Shane McGuigan.

His early fights showcased his knockout prowess, with stoppage wins over Stu Greener (2021), Jordan Ellison (2022), and Connor Marsden (2022), the latter in just 12 seconds. These performances established Azim as a formidable prospect in the lightweight division.

Azim’s career surged in 2023 with a unanimous decision win over Aram Faniian and a tenth-round TKO against Franck Petitjean on November 18, 2023, securing the European super-lightweight title in his tenth professional fight, breaking Spencer Oliver’s record as the fastest British male to win the title.

In 2024, he defended the title with a fifth-round knockout of Enock Poulsen and stopped Ohara Davies in the eighth round, a career-defining performance.

In February 2025, Azim claimed the IBO super-lightweight title by stopping former world champion Sergey Lipinets in the ninth round, earning the British Boxing Writers’ Young Fighter of the Year award.

Currently, Adam Azim is ranked 12th by the WBC and 9th by the WBA in the super-lightweight division, with his sights set on a world title shot.

His scheduled June 2025 fight against Eliot Chavez was canceled due to Chavez’s weight-cutting issues, but Azim remains focused on high-profile matchups, including potential bouts against Regis Prograis, Richard Commey, or domestic rival Dalton Smith.

Training at Shane McGuigan’s gym alongside champions like Chris Billam-Smith, Azim’s explosive style and ADHD-driven energy, which he calls a “superpower,” continue to fuel his rise. His ambition to surpass Amir Khan’s record as the youngest world champion drives his pursuit of global dominance.
