As a senior in 2011, he went 10–1 with a 0.76 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 62 innings while batting .487 with eight home runs and 41 RBIs, leading the Pirates to their first Class 4A state championship.

Career
Adrian Houser’s professional journey began when the Houston Astros selected him in the second round, 69th overall, of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Locust Grove High School. He signed quickly and spent four seasons climbing Houston’s minor-league system,
never posting overwhelming numbers but showing enough promise for the Astros to include him in a major trade.
On July 30, 2015, Houston dealt Houser, Josh Hader, Brett Phillips, and Domingo Santana to the Milwaukee Brewers for Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers. He made his MLB debut with Milwaukee on September 26, 2015, tossing a scoreless inning against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Houser’s breakthrough arrived in 2021, when he posted a 3.22 ERA over 28 appearances (26 starts) with 105 strikeouts in 142.1 innings, including the Brewers’ first complete-game shutout by a pitcher since 2014.
He remained a rotation fixture in Milwaukee through 2023 before being traded to the New York Mets, then bounced through the Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles, and Texas Rangers organizations before reviving his career with the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays in 2025, where he recorded a 3.31 ERA and a career-high 3.1 WAR.
In December 2025, he signed a two-year, $22 million contract with the San Francisco Giants. His high school retired his No. 12 jersey in December 2021, making him the first Locust Grove athlete to receive that honor.
