Early Life and Education
Adrien Fourmaux was born on 3 May 1995 in Seclin, Nord, France, and was raised in the northern region of the country. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fourmaux and has a brother named Maxime Fourmaux.
Fourmaux was pursuing a medical degree at the Lille Faculty of Medicine, training to become an orthopedic surgeon, when he entered the FFSA’s Rallye Jeunes scouting competition in 2016 at the age of twenty-one.
He won the competition, joining Sébastien Loeb and Sébastien Ogier on the winners’ list, and received backing from the French federation.
He continued his studies in parallel with his early rally career, reaching his fourth year of medicine before making the difficult decision to abandon his surgical ambitions entirely to focus on racing. He is of French ethnicity and follows Christianity.
Career
Adrien Fourmaux made his rally debut in the French Junior Championship in 2017, finishing third in the standings, and dominated the series in 2018 to claim the title with two events to spare.
His performances caught the attention of M-Sport, who brought him into WRC2 for 2019. He made an immediate impact by finishing second in the WRC2 class on his debut at Rallye Monte-Carlo and taking his first WRC career point with a tenth-place overall finish.
He secured another WRC2 podium at Wales Rally GB later that year.
In 2020, he won seven stages at Monte-Carlo before a puncture dropped him to second, and he went on to claim further WRC2 podiums in Estonia and Turkey, finishing third in the championship. He also won Rally Islas Canarias in the European Rally Championship that year.
Fourmaux stepped up to the WRC’s top tier in 2021, finishing fifth on his Rally1 debut at Croatia Rally and claiming his maiden WRC stage win at Safari Rally Kenya.
After a challenging 2022 season marked by crashes, he returned to WRC2 in 2023 and rebuilt his confidence, winning the British Rally Championship with five consecutive victories and claiming a breakthrough WRC2 win at Central European Rally.
His resurgence earned him a full-time Rally1 return with M-Sport in 2024, where he delivered his strongest season yet with five podiums and 11 stage wins, achieving podium finishes on snow, gravel, and asphalt.
That form secured a high-profile move to Hyundai for 2025, where he claimed a debut podium at Rallye Monte-Carlo and added further podiums in Greece, Chile, and Saudi Arabia.
He continues to compete at the front of the field, chasing his elusive first WRC victory.
