He made his professional MMA debut at Ring of Fire 21 and quickly built an undefeated record before moving to World Extreme Cagefighting.
There, he became one of the leading fighters in the lightweight division and challenged Jamie Varner for the WEC Lightweight Championship.
He joined the UFC in 2011 and went on to compete across the lightweight and welterweight divisions for more than a decade.
