Born into a Christian family on October 22, 1979, in Chicago, Illinois, Jannero Pargo was raised alongside his older sister Kizzy and younger brother Jeremy. His father, Jannero Brown, passed away from cancer in 1994, and his mother, Charlie Mae Pargo, raised the children in Chicago.

A standout athlete at Paul Robeson High School, Jannero went on to play collegiate basketball at Neosho County Community College and then the University of Arkansas, graduating in 2002

Career

Jannero embarked on an 11-year NBA playing career beginning in 2002, going undrafted but signing with the Los Angeles Lakers. He later played for the Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards, and Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets.

Known as a sharpshooting guard, he averaged 6.4 points per game and made notable playoff contributions in 2008. In 2017, Jannero transitioned into coaching, starting as an assistant with the Windy City Bulls.

By 2019, he joined the Portland Trail Blazers staff, and in 2021 became a player development assistant with the Indiana Pacers, a position he continues to hold as of the 2024–25 season. His long-term ambition is to become an NBA head coach.
