He finished third in the drivers’ championship in 2006 and 2007 while helping Ford claim manufacturers’ titles, then finished runner-up to Sébastien Loeb in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012.
His first WRC victory came at Rally Australia in 2006. After retiring from the WRC at the end of 2014 he moved into rally-raid competition, making his Dakar Rally debut in 2016 with X-Raid and finishing fourth as the best rookie.
He has continued competing in cross-country events and historic rallying while supporting his son’s junior career.
